About Us
Green Farm is a historic mansion located in Lakewood, NY on the shores of Chautauqua Lake. This nearly 10,000 square foot 8 bedroom home was built by millionaire banking and tobacco heir Paul Sorg in 1906. It has been lovingly renovated while keeping its historic character. Every room has unique features that could never be recreated today, featuring hand-carved moldings depicting characters from Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, the original ice chest and a stunning bridal staircase. Green Farm was the personal home of Sorg and his wife until her death in 1929, it was then converted to an exclusive tea room that even remained operational during World War II. Green Farm is now a year-round vacation home where travelers enjoy the beautiful home, the Chautauqua Lake dock exclusive to Green Farm, the famed Chautauqua Institution, walking distance restaurants, coffee shop, park, tennis and all that the greater Chautauqua area has to offer.

The house is amazing, it is better than the pictures. They don’t make houses like this anymore. Even with 23 people staying there, the house has enough space to find a quiet corner if you need a little alone time. The hosts were very responsive if we needed anything. They immediately addressed any concern we had.
This place is GREAT. The pictures don’t even do it justice, it is a beautifully restored historic mansion that was the perfect location for a family gathering. Bedrooms were comfy, the location is great, and the view of the lake makes for a perfect setting. The downstairs layout is also very conducive to visiting with a group, with lots of different rooms to sit and have different hangouts. Timothy was very responsive and friendly and all around everything went very smoothly. As a group, we have stayed at several locations in the area over the years and this is by far the best we’ve found for our family.
This gorgeous home was perfect for our big family weekend!! The location is phenomenal and so close to the cutest shops and restaurants. We love it there!!!
